Jewelry, Petty-Cash Thefts Reported to Barrington Police

Approximately $3,000 worth of jewelry reported stolen from an apartment at Atria Bay Spring Village; $217 in cash swiped from doctor's office.

Approximately $3,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen to the Barrington police last Friday afternoon, Aug. 30.

The jewelry reportedly was taken from a box on top of a dresser in the apartment of a 65-year-old woman at Atria Bay Spring Village, 147 Bay Spring Ave. 

There are no suspects so far in the investigation, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Taken in the heist were about 10 rings, including a diamond ring, and some ear rings, according to the incident report. The reported theft was reported at around 3 pm. 

Another theft was reported to Barrington police on Tuesday morning, Sept 3.

Someone swiped $217 cash from the petty cash drawer at East Bay Pediatrics, 234 Maple Ave., said LaCross. The money is usually contained in an unlocked drawer that a dozen employees have access to, he said.

The money is believed to have disappeared between Friday, Aug. 30, and Tuesday morning. The theft was reported at around 11:45 am.
