Early-Morning Intruder Scared Off by Woman

Barrington police respond to report of intruder in Half Mile Road home last Friday.

An intruder was scared off early Friday morning, Nov. 1, by a woman in bed in a home on Half Mile Road in Barrington who asked what he was doing in her bedroom.

The woman, 56, apparently was awakened by the intruder, who apparently entered the house through an unlocked door from a patio outside the bedroom. 

The intruder was described only as a man about 5-10, skinny and wearing dark clothes, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. He also is believed to have been carrying a flashlight.

Police received a call about the intruder at around 12:10 am. The man apparently entered and left the house within minutes of each other. Nothing was reported stolen or disturbed. 

Police checked all the other doors and windows in the house to make sure it was secure, according to the police report.
