Diamond Jewelry, Brass Plaque Walk Away

Barrington police report that jewelry disappeared from an Atria Bay Spring Village resident's room; the plaque walked away from the traffic island in front of the library.

Barrington police are investigating another theft that happened last week – this one at Atria Bay Spring Village. It was reported last Friday, Oct. 26, at 2:10 pm..

An 82-year-old woman resident told police that jewelry worth around $5,000 was stolen from her room, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Reported missing are a 4 to 5 carat diamond ring and a gold wedding band, according to the police report. The rings were kept in a ring case on the woman’s dresser, LaCross said.

A separate theft was reported to police last Monday, Oct. 22. It occurred in a very conspicuous place.

A brass plaque that was embedded in the ground near the large tree in the traffic island in front of the Barrington Public Library was reported to have disappeared, LaCross said.
