Police Seeking Two Shoplifters

Police are investigating a shoplifting by two men at the CVS/pharmacy on County Road on Tuesday evening, May 17. They are asking for help in identifying the two suspects, seen on surveillance recordings.

Both men are described as black in their early 20s.

One is about 6-foot to 6-foot-2 and weighs about 190 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, jeans, and a black baseball hat with a gold letter "P" (Pittsburgh Pirates), with no facial hair.

The second man is about 5-foot-9 to 5- foot-11 and weighs about 170 pounds. He was wearing a gray jacket, jeans, a black baseball hat, perhaps with a Pirates of the Caribbean logo. He has long braid or dreads and a goatee.

The men are believed to have left the store with their pants bulging as if they had items concealed in them. The two suspects walked out the front door and turned west towards Staples and the East Bay Bike Path.

A security tape was reviewed to track the suspect’s movements in the store, police said.

They entered the store at 6:12 pm and headed toward aisle #7 -- health care/beauty. The video shows one suspect "blocking" while the other suspect "stuffs" contraband down his pants, police said.

They then walk further down the aisle before returning and repeating the theft of Olay beauty products and Oral- B toothbrush heads. The suspects left the store at 6:16 pm.

An inventory revealed the theft of $1,721 worth of Olay Prox and Oral -B products.

'Combative' woman faces DUI charge

A Warren woman, 29, was charged by Barrington police with drunk driving early Tuesday morning, May 17.

 Emily G. Taylor, of 27 Davis St., was stopped at around 2:10 am after a patrolman observed her car swerving twice over the center line on County Road.

Police said Taylor failed a field sobriety test and refused taking the Breathalyzer. Her speech was described as slurred, and she was wearing her coat inside out, police said.

After Taylor was taken to the police station, she also became combative, police said, including swearing at officers and yelling and screaming.

Wrong place, wrong time

While investigating a shoplifting at the CVS/pharmacy on County Road on Tuesday evening, police arrested a man wanted on a District Court bench warrant.

Lee E. Viera, 24, of Bristol was waiting at a bus stop when police approached him around 7:09 pm. While checking his identity, they learned of the bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a motor vehicle charge.

Suspicious package reported

Barrington police received a report on Monday morning of a suspicious package left at the front door of the Barrington Medical Center on Maple Avenue.

The package turned out to be a poster showing children’s clothing and Teddy bears with a variety of quotes and statements. 

The call came in about 11:24 am, police said.

Boys set fire in bathroom

Two teenage boys at Barrington Middle School will be referred to the Juvenile Hearing Board after they lit toilet paper on fire in a bathroom on Tuesday morning, May 17.

The boys admitted to school officials that they used matches and toilet paper to start the fire, which scorched the floor, police said.  The incident occurred about 9:19 am.
