Boy, 16, Busted With Bong on Playground

Barrington police charge boy with marijuana possession after an officer finds pot and bong in a backpack at the Nayatt School playground.

A 16-year-old boy from Providence found some trouble in Barrington early Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9, during a routine check of Nayatt School by a police officer.

Patrolman Anthony DeCristofaro spotted two boys on the playground behind the elementary school on Nayatt Road at about 12:47 pm. One of the boys was carrying a black backpack, which seemed suspicious to the officer, said Police Chief John LaCross.

The patrol officer approached the two boys. He smelled the odor of marijuana in the air, said LaCross.
