Bay Spring Community Center Getting AED

AED donation is part of broader undertaking by the Barrington Fire Department.

The Barrington Fire Department recently received an automated external defibrillator (AED) from Lifespan for the Bay Spring Community Center.

Marianne Stepanian, cardiac project coordinator for Lifespan Community Health Services, delivered the AED to Firefighter David Paull at the Barrington Public Safety Building. Paull applied for the AED grant on behalf of the community center.

The AED will be installed in a highly visible spot in the community center after renovation work to install an external lift to the second floor is finished.

This donations brings the total number of town-owned AED's in service to 21. AEDs in conjunction with quality CPR contribute to a much greater chance for return of spontaneous circulation for a cardiac arrest patient, said Fire Lt. Jason Fannion.

This AED grant is part of a broader program the Barrington Fire Department will reveal at the Sept. 3 Town Council meeting, Fannion said.
