Police searching for suspect who ordered Barrington man to drive him into Massachusetts before he took off into the woods off Interstate 90.

Barrington Police are searching for a suspect who ordered a Barrington man to drive him to Massachusetts at gunpoint on Monday and was last seen running into the woods off Interstate 90.

Likely rattled, the resident was unhurt.

It all started around 7:30 a.m. when the resident was in his driveway near Barrington Beach when a man described as Hispanic, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a camouflaged bandana covering his nose and dirty faded jeans walked up while carrying a handgun and ordered the resident into his own car and to drive out of town.

The suspect, who stood about 5 feet 8 inches tall and was in his late 20s or 30s, sat in the car with the gun, speaking English to the Barrington man but in Spanish while on his cell phone during the ride.

The suspect didn't demand or take any money and the Barrington resident was unharmed, police said.

Eventually, while in Interstate 90, the suspect ordered the resident to stop. Once stopped, he fled into the woods. The resident immediately called Massachusetts State Police.

The suspect was carrying a dark Nike gym bag with a white Nike emblem on it.
