Barrington Firefighter Promoted to Lieutenant

Lt. Richard McKay has been a Barrington firefighter since 1985.

The Barrington Fire Department has another lieutenant. Richard McKay was sworn in by Fire Chief Gerald Bessette as the department’s newest lieutenant in front of the Barrington Town Council at its November meeting. He will be in charge of “D” Platoon at the headquarters in the Public Safety Complex on Federal Road.

McKay has been a Barrington firefighter since 1985. He holds national certifications in Fire 1 & 2, Company Officer, Safety Officer, Fire Instructor, Rope rescue, and Fire Inspector, and he holds advanced certifications in FEMA's Incident Command system.  McKay holds an associate’s degree in fire science from Bristol Community College in Massachusetts.
