Barrington 'Boat Bandit' Strikes Again

Theft of an outboard motor from a boat parked in a trailer in a driveway is the latest larceny of boating gear and equipment reported to police.

The “boat bandit” walked away with an outboard motor from a boat parked on a trailer in a Bay Avenue driveway in Barrington last week.

The larceny was the latest “boat item” to be swiped this summer, according to the police reports.

The theft of the 15HP Mercury motor was reported to police at around 2 pm on Thursday, Aug. 8. The motor was believed to have been swiped sometime overnight, according to the police report.

Value of the motor was around $3,000, according to the owner.

An investigation into this theft and all the other larcenies of boating gear and equipment reported to police in the past few months continues, said Det. Lt. Dino DeCrescenzo.
