Alleged Domestic-Assault Victim Evicted

Barrington police were called to an apartment at the Harbor Animal Hospital to 'keep the peace' while a woman is evicted by her alleged assailant.

Barrington police were called to the Harbor Animal Hospital at 286 Maple Ave. late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 2, to “keep the peace” while a woman who is the alleged victim of a domestic assault was evicted from her apartment in that building.

Police said the woman, 28, was served a Superior Court order by a constable to leave the apartment about two days after Wade Cordy, 41, the veterinarian who owns and operates the animal hospital, was charged with three counts of domestic violence against her. She is a longtime girlfriend of Cordy, police said.

The woman also is an employee at the animal hospital. She left the apartment voluntarily, police said.

Cordy was charged with simple assault, refusing to relinquish a telephone and malicious damage to property. The charges were filed after an argument with the woman escalated into a physical altercation, police said.

Cordy allegedly slapped a cell phone out of her hand, breaking it, and pinned her to the ground during the fight.
