William J. Hagan, 64, Carpenter, General Contractor

His calling hours are today and his funeral is Tuesday from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home in Riverside.

William J. 'Bill' Hagan, of Blanding Avenue, Barrington, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at home. He was  64.

He was the beloved husband of Betty A. (VanderWoude) Hagan. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Thomas M. and Dorothy E. (Baker) Hagan.

He was a lifelong resident of Barrington where he began his career as a highly skilled carpenter and general contractor. He transformed a little corner of Bay Spring into a paradise that he shared generously with family and friends.

He was an avid golfer with the East Bay Golf League, a passionate Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved the mountains of Colorado where he conquered the steep and deep. 

Hagan was a graduate of St. Luke's School Class of 1965, Barrington High School Class of 1968 and Roger Williams College Class of 1972. 

Besides his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a son, Joshua P. Hagan of Exeter, NH, a daughter, Sara B. Luke of Highlands Ranch, CO, four brothers; Michael M. Hagan of Venice, FL, Daniel H. Hagan of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert D. Hagan of Barrington and Kevin P. Hagan of Rehoboth, and four grandchildren. 

His funeral will be held on Tuesday Dec. 31,  from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke's Church, Washington Road, Barrington, at 10 am. 

Calling hours are today, Dec. 30, from 4-7 pm. Contributions in his memory to the St. Luke's School Scholarship Fund, 10 Waldron Avenue, Barrington, RI, 02806 would be deeply appreciated.
