Roberta 'Bobbie' Coyne, 85, Passes On

Roberta "Bobbie" Claire Coyne, a 51-year resident of Barrington, passed away on Dec. 2, 2012. She was 85.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her on Friday, Dec. 7, at St. Luke's Church in Barrington, commencing at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the youngest daughter of James G. Connolly, a former Lieutenant Governor of the State of Rhode Island (1929 - 33), and his wife Rose (McCardell), and was the sister of the late Rosemary (Connolly) Lyon.

A 1944 alumna of Elmhurst Academy and a 1948 graduate of Pembroke College (Brown University), she was the widow of Thomas J. Coyne.

She was involved in various local community activities and organizations, including the Barrington Women's Club. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed time and talks through the years with her children, grandchildren, and family.

An avid golfer, Bobbie was a member of the Barrington Bogeys and other women's golf leagues.

She is survived by her son, Tom, and his family (wife Susan and children Michael, Hallie, Austin and Caleb) of Golden, Colorado; her son, Jerry, and his family (wife Cindy and children Katie, Patrick, Ian and Meghan) of Barrington; and her son, Bob, of Boulder, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, Bobbie's family requests donations be made in her memory to the Barrington Citizens Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 300, Barrington, RI 02806 or McAuley House, 622 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI 02907.
