Robert Greenwood, 89, Owned Graphic Design Firm

A service of remembrance will be held for him on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Smith-Mason Funeral Home in Riverside.

Robert A. Greenwood, of Barrington, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 13, 2013. He was 89.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy H. Greenwood, to whom he had been married 60 years. Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late James and Margaret Greenwood. 

He graduated from RI School of Design with a BFA in Advertising Design in 1950. He owned Greenwood Associates, a graphic design firm.

He served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 21st Fighter Squadron 413th Fighter Group and was a crew chief on the P-47. Throughout his life, his loving and kind ways and endearing sense of humor touched many. 

He leaves his children, Laurie Thompson of Barrington, Gail Greenwood and her partner, Henry Mott, of Middletown, and Scott Greenwood and his wife, Carolyn Sedgwick, of Little Compton. He was the father of the late Betsy Greenwood Bowersock. He leaves his grandchildren, Lauren and Meredith Thompson, and Andrew, Oliver and Emmett Greenwood. He was the brother of the late Gladys McConnell and the late Joan Johansen. He also leaves his extended family of devoted caregivers. 

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 21, from 1-3 pm at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be private.
