3 Dumb Driving Moves
Rhode Island Attorney Mike Bottaro has 3 "dumb driving moves" that are illegal and dangerous. Have you seen these and other dumb moves on our Rhode Island roads?
Have you noticed that us Ocean Staters regularly turn up in annual "bad driving" reports? In my personal injury law practice, we see bad driving examples everyday. I compiled a "Top 10 List of Dumb Driving" that I recently shared on WPRI's The Rhode Show. Here are 3 dumb driving moves from my list:
1. Taking Selfies While Driving
Forget about texting and driving, Rhode Island drivers now need to watch out for "Driving Selfies." With the rise of social media apps like Snapchat, Vine, and Instagram, it's become fashionable to take pictures of yourself while driving. Can you believe it?
2. Accelerating To Beat The Merge
This move occurs when an impatient driver speeds up after seeing that traffic lanes are merging ahead. The sudden acceleration may startle the driver in the adjacent lane or make a collision unavoidable. Unsuspecting drivers have literally been run off the road by such aggressive tactics.
3. Using The Exit Lane To Jump Traffic
In this dumb driving move, an impatient driver in heavy traffic moves to the exit lane and accelerates past traffic. But rather than exiting, at the last moment, the driver swerves back into the traffic lane in an effort to leapfrog ahead of other motorists. This move is illegal and, of course, quite dangerous.
Well, I have my top ten list. What "dumb driving" moves do you see out there?
