The winter solstice occurs overnight tonight (12:30 am Thursday), which means today is the last day of fall and the days start to get longer again.

Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, began last evening at sundown and runs for eight days with a Menorah lighting taking place at the State House at 6:15 pm today.

The Barrington and Dudek Bowling Alley are offering discount bowling passes for school vacation week, Dec. 26-29, from 12 to 5 pm.
