What's Open, Closed on Labor Day?

All government offices, the schools and the library in Barrington are closed today; the usual retail and drug stores will remain open.

Today is Labor Day, 2013. The holiday is always the first Monday in September, a day set aside to celebrate the creation of the labor movement and the social and economic achievements of American workers.

“It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country,” according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The day is celebrated as a public holiday in Barrington. But not everybody is shutting down. For some businesses, it will be business as usual.
