'School's Out' Offers Kids Lots to Do During Holiday Break

The Barrington Recreation Department program is offering twice-daily sessions at the middle school for kids ages 6-12.

The annual School’s Out program in Barrington during the holiday vacation break starts in a week.

The Recreation Department has scheduled a variety of activities to keep your kids – ages 6 to 12 -- occupied on the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. 

The program runs Dec. 26, 27, and 30 at the Barrington Middle School, according to Michele Geremia, recreation director.

There are morning and afternoon sessions and a supervised lunch. The morning sessions run from 9:30 am to noon; the afternoon sessions run from 12:30 to 3 pm. 

Among the activities: board games, Bingo, arts and crafts, sports, a Lego-building contest, Fun With Golf, chess, movies and learning to knit

The knitting program runs only on Dec. 30, and is limited to 10 children. First come, first serve sign-ups. Knitters at the Senior Center will be the teachers.

Bring the registration form and your check made out to the Town of Barrington with you on the first day your child attends. There is a $5 fee per child per session.
