What's Open, Closed on Columbus Day

All government offices are closed; most retail stores and restaurants are open.

Today is Columbus Day, Oct. 10, 2011

The day is still celebrated as a public holiday in Barrington. But not everybody is shutting down. For some businesses, in fact, it will be business as usual.

Barrington Town Hall is closed. So are the Barrington schools and most day care centers in town.

The Barrington library is closed as well. The Senior Center and TAP-IN shut their doors for the day, too.

Federal and state government offices are closed. There will be no mail delivery.

Four Barrington banks are closed: Citizens, Sovereign, BankNewport and Bank of America. TD Bank and Webster Bank are open.

Retail stores and most restaurants are open.

RIPTA will be operating on a holiday schedule.

The Bayside Family YMCA is open. In fact, the ‘Y’ invites you to an open house from 10 am to 2 pm.
