What's Open, What's Closed Today?

Today is Presidents' Day – a federal holiday on the third Monday of February designated to celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln -- two of America's most renowned Presidents.

Not everythings is shut down today, though. For many businesses, in fact, it will be business as usual.

All federal, state and municipal offices, such as the Barrington Town Hall are closed for the holiday. There is no mail delivery.

The Barrington Public Schools and most day care centers in town are closed.

The Barrington Public Library is closed. So is the Barrington Senior Center and TAP-IN, which shut their doors for the holiday.

Banks vary, although today is considered a banking holiday. Citizens, Sovereign, BankNewport and Bank of America in Barrington are closed but the ATMs are open. You can still bank at Webster and TD Bank.

Retail stores and most restaurants that serve on Mondays are open. So is the Shaw’s supermarket.

RIPTA will be operating busses on its regular schedule.

The Bayside YMCA is open with the start of special school vacatin week activities.

The open gym at Barrington Middle School is cancelled because the school is closed.
