They're Planting 'Pinwheel Garden'
To spread the word about child abuse prevention, Bristol County Women's Club and Girl Scout Troop 719 will be 'planting' pinwheels at Barrington Presbyterian Church.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.
And this month, the Bristol County Women’s Club is joining with Barrington Senior Cadette Girl Scout Troop 719 in spreading the word about preventing child abuse.
One of their efforts is the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign – a campaign that will “plant” a "pinwheel garden" in front of the Barrington Presbyterian Church at 400 County Road next Sunday, April 22, from 9 am to noon.

“The pinwheel represents the fun and laughter of childhood that all children should be able to experience,” said Joyce Speaker, project coordinator.
Women’s club members, led by Sandra Panone, president, will be at the church, along with Girl Scout Leader Sue Donovan and several Girl Scouts, she said.

“The Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign is about each of us taking a moment to get involved,” said Speaker. “Make a pinwheel ... and share it with others. Plant a pinwheel garden at your home, at your child-care program, in front of your agency or business so that people will stop and ask what it is all about!
“The Pinwheel represents the sheer joy of childhood! The great potential that every child has when they enter this life ... and if we all work together ... we can provide them with a safe and healthy environment to grow within.
“The pinwheel is a way to express our collective movement for change ... creating the neighborhoods, the communities and the families that are prepared and equipped to support children as they grow.”

Make your donation by cash or check. Checks should be made payable to: GFWC BCWC and sent to GFWC, PO Box 116, Barrington, RI 02806 or delivered in person at the Presbyterian Church in the basket provided in the Narthex of the church during April.
