Share Your Favorites at Speed-Reads

Barrington library invites you to share your favorite reading material in 5 minutes or less with other readers.

Do you read? A lot? Or a little bit?

If you do, you are invited to share your favorite books, magazines, blogs, newspapers and websites, anything at all at Speed-Reads – another reading speed networking event at the Barrington library.

Speed-Reads is next Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 6:30 to 8 pm in the second-floor gallery behind the auditorium.

“Anybody who likes to read, no matter how much or how little, is invited, period,” said Amy Greer, community service librarian.

Are you looking for some good stuff to read – books, graphic novels, blogs, newspapers, magazines or some other new format? Have you read something great lately and want a chance to share it with others? Do you like to read in a variety of formats and genres?

“If you answered yes to any of these questions,” Greer said, “this Speed-Reads event is for you.”

Over the course of an hour, participants will have a chance to have up to 15 face-to-face exchanges with other readers, she said. Each pair will be given 4-5 minutes to talk and then go on to the next person.

“But, don’t worry! No book reports or quizzes here! Just fun conversation about your favorite reads, and ice-breaker questions are provided,” Greer said. “Walk away having shared your absolute favorites while creating a new must-read list.”

After the event, the most talked about reads will be listed on the Barrington Public Library blog.

The program is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served.

You don’t have to register, but sending an email to Greer would give the library some idea of how many people to expect. Greer’s email address is agreer@barringtonlibrary.org.
