Barrington schools open their doors for the 2012-2013 academic year on Monday morning, Aug. 27. Watch for school busses and be more careful when driving to work or around town.

Marilyn Monroe’s last film, “The Misfits,” plays at the Barrington Public Library auditorium on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 7 pm. It concludes the August series on her career, which ended 60 years ago this month with her death.

Historian and author Jean Macintyre of Barrington offers an illustrated talk on the “History of Summertime in Barrington,” a presentation of the Town Museum operated by the Barrington Preservation Society; it starts at 7 pm in the library auditorium on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Professional dancer Nelia Lawton offers ballroom and Latin dance lessons on Friday evening, Aug. 31, at the Barrington Democratic Club on Roffee Street at 7 pm; it is followed by a social dance from 8 to 11 pm.

The Barrington Farmers’ Market continues on Saturday morning, Sept. 1, at the Barrington Congregational (White) Church on County Road. This week, it includes a free outdoor yoga class on the edge of the Barrington River from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
