What is an Au Pair?

An au pair is an international childcare provider who lives with your family for a year or more. He or she is experienced and Go Au Pair is one agency whose available au pairs are already documented, ready to match with you! Other agencies may claim to have thousands of available au pairs, but not all have even completed the basic requirements. Each au pair we present you is ready for his or her embassy appointment, and could have Visa in-hand within weeks.

An au pair provides childcare for your children ages 3 months and up, as many as 10 hours per day and up to 45 hours per week. He or she must have one and a half days off each week and one weekend off each month. Au pairs need to complete 6 credits or 72 classroom hours (auditing classes is allowed) during their year, and the host family is responsible for transportation to/from class, as well as the first $500 in expenses.

Your au pair can teach your child a language while he or she improves their English. Yes, all au pairs speak English and Go Au Pair rates them from 1-5 for you. I recommend 3 or higher, particularly since you are leaving your children in their care and want to make sure there are no major communication problems.

Au pairs can also drive for you, given their home country license and an International Driving Permit, obtained in their home country. This can help with all that before/after school rushing around. Let an au pair simplify life for your family.

For less than $7.35 per hour, you can have an extra set of hands when you need them, who can also help out with kids' laundry and light meal prep/clean up, and any other childcare-related task!
