Living Literature Performs at Barrington Public Library

Living Literature, a collective of Rhode Island based artists and educators, teaches literature through readers theater and will perform this year’s Reading Across Rhode Island book selection, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore at Barrington Public Library on Thursday, April 10 at 7 PM.

Reading Across Rhode Island is a highly successful statewide reading program, now in its eleventh year. This year's selection is Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. It is an old school mystery set firmly in tech-loving, modern day San Francisco. This will be Living Literature's fifth year participating in this program, bringing readers together across the state through discussions centered on one book.

This readers theater presentation focuses on the first third of this novel; introducing the audience to the main characters and ideas of Robin Sloan’s fantasy/adventure exploration of the modern conflict and transition between new technology (electronic) and old (printed books).

It is intended for both those who have and have not read the book. If you want to find the solution to the book’s mystery, you’ll have to read the whole book, but this program will get you engaged in the people and challenges of Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore.

Free and open to all. Handicap access is available.
