The History and Mystery of Glass with Roberta Segal

Is glass a craft or an art?  You will decide as we explore current glass artists and their methods, highlighting those most admired by Roberta Segal on Wednesday, November 14th at 7PM in the 2nd floor Auditorium of the Barrington Public Library. Since our earliest history, we can imagine the fascination when the sand surrounding a firepit suddenly converted to a solid material. And since that time little has changed in the method of forming this material, — one that captures, reflects, refracts light along with our imagination as none other.

Roberta Segal works in kiln-formed glass, the oldest method known to man predating glass blowing.  She will demonstrate the process she uses to achieve her finished pieces along with the inclusions that may be used. Roberta Segal has lived in East Bay for several decades.  She and her husband moved to Warren from Barrington 17 years ago, where she now has her studio.  To see her work and her love of glass, go to http://www.robertasegal.com.
