How did Barringtonians celebrate notable occasions -- graduations, musical performances, dinner parties, weddings, birthdays, and other ceremonies?
Find out on Sunday, Feb. 10, by visiting the Town Museum operated by the Barrington Preservation Society in the lower level of the library.
A reception for the museum's current exhibit, "Let's Celebrate," starts at 2 pm. There will be refreshments, live music, and some surprises as well.
The exhibit offers a selection of historic costumes -- female, male and children -- accessories, costume jewelry, musical instruments, photographs, and dining accoutrements.
The costume jewelry on display pays homage to the importance of the jewelry district in Providence, with collections from Barrington residents.
Wear your favorite pin, necklace, cufflinks, pocket watch, or whatever to the reception. It's free and open to everyone. Families are very welcome.
