14 Roads Ready for Repaving

Cost of roadway project is $728,000 with contract awarded to Cardi Corp., the low bidder.

The Town Council approved 14 streets for reconstruction and repaving at its Monday meeting. 

Cost of the roadway project is $728,000, said Alan Corvi, director of the public works department. Cash for the work is coming from a 2009 bond issue.

The contract for the work is going to Cardi Corp., the low bidder, said  Corvi.

The streets to be repaved:

  • Burr Avenue
  • Chapman Lane
  • Commonwealth Avenue
  • Driscol Lane
  • Fireside Drive
  • Fairfield Drive
  • Greenbrier Drive
  • Hampden Street
  • Old Chimney Road
  • Vineland Drive
  • Waseca Avenue
  • Melrose Street
  • Ferrier Avenue
  • Zompa Road

Work on the streets is expected to start by the end of May, Corvi said.  Completion date for the work is Sept. 30. Cardi will determine the order in which the streets are reconstructed, Corvi said.

The work will include reclaiming in-place, regrading, compaction of the gravel base, a 1.5-inch thick asphalt base with a 1.5-inch thick asphalt surface for total asphalt of 3 inches..
