My very first mission trip was in 2003 with Kids Around the World (www.kidsaroundtheworld.com). I went with my family to build two playgrounds for two very needy places. The playgrounds reminded me of when I played at the Park District's playgrounds when I was younger. The thrill I got from conquering the monkey bars, and rush from the tall blue slide. I was fortunate to have such a carefree childhood unlike so many of the children we meet. After that first trip, my family was extremely compelled to keep going to different places to help. We have been to Ecuador, New Orleans and again to Guatemala. Each experience is beautiful and humbling.
This summer my family, along with others from the Barrington community, will be serving in the Dominican Republic. We will be building one playground and hosting a camp for the children. As we look forward to this experience, we'd like to get the whole Barrington community involved! Being able to serve is one thing, but serving amongst friends and neighbors is amazing. Though people may not be able to make the trip, they can make it possible! We are hosting a car wash this Friday (June 15th). The cost is ten dollars. It will take place at 220 Weatherstone Road, Barrington IL from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. I would like to ask you to participate in this awesome fundraiser.
