EV charging station has been installed at the Barrington Shopping Plaza near the East Bay Bike Path.

A ChargePoint electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been installed on the north side of the Barrington Shopping Plaza near Barrington TV & Electric at the East Bay Bike Path. It is part of a network of 50 EV stations in Rhode Island that were installed under a $750,000 state contract with ChargePoint to locate the EV stations. 

ChargePoint describes itself as the leading provider of networked public charging stations with more than 12,200 installed across the country. ChargePoint worked with National Grid and Paolino Properties, which owns the shopping plaza, to install the station in Barrington.

Paolino Properties pays for the electricity, according to a story in the Barrington Times. You get it for free.

ChargePoint stations have state-of-the-art features, according to the company, including the ability to locate, reserve and navigate to unoccupied charging stations with online tools and mobile apps. Each unit has two charging spots.
