Grapes & Grains at 24 Bosworth St. is the favorite place in Barrington for Patch readers to buy their wine, spirits and beer.
Grapes & Grains, which opened about two months ago, led almost from the start in this week’s Patch Readers’ Choice poll. The poll was posted Monday morning and ran through Friday morning at 9.
The Bosworth Street store garnered 56 percent of the 355 votes cast by Patch readers. Brickyard Wine & Spirits, which opened as Barrington’s first-ever liquor store late in December, got 43 percent of the votes.
"We really appreciate the feedback and support," said Peter Andrews, general manager. "It will help us get better every day."
"It's incredible to see the number of votes, which shows that people in Barrington have wanted a liquor store for a long time," he said. "People are noticing the work we do, and we appreciate that. We will contiue to work hard to raise our percentage."
Owner Matthew Amaral wrote in an email:
"The results of the pole brought me back to November 2010 when the Class A liquor license WAS VOTED IN FAVOR with a 58% approval rate for the Class A license in Barrington for the first time ever.
"Now in 2012, G&G is open for business and our approval rate is close to the original vote! Thank you to all who voted and to all who support our mission.
"The G&G Team is having a lot of fun meeting new people, introducing them to new wines, spirits and ales. The feedback we have been receiving has been very heartwarming and a confirmation for me that it was well worth the wait to follow my dreams. I am very happy and proud to be operating G&G in Barrington."
Given the number of votes cast, both Grapes & Grains and Brickyard Wine & Spirits have their favorite customers after being in business for short times.
Be sure to watch Patch over the weekend when we tally up the top votes and announce which liquor stores are the favorites in all of the Patch communities.
