Expect quite a few bells to be jingling in Barrington on Sunday, Dec. 9.
The first “Jingle Bell Run” will be held starting at noon. It is sponsored by the Barrington Business Association and the Bayside YMCA.
“It’s a fun run,” said Lois Coppolino, co-director of the business association. “All families will get bells to jingle.”
You can run with your pets if you like. Holiday costumes for everyone are optional.
The run also will raise some funds for TAP-IN to help the nonprofit refill its shelves and get ready for the holidays, she said.
The course will start at the YMCA parking lot, said Holly Smith, the other co-director of the BBA. It will cover about three-quarters of a mile along West Street, Maple Avenue, Wood Street and the East Bay Bike Path heading back to the YMCA.
To register, you will need to buy a ticket from any participating merchant in Barrington, said Smith. The cost is $5 per family.
Among the merchants with “Jingle Bell Run” tickets are Hollies on the Avenue, Daisy Dig’ins, Avessa Salon and Barrington Pilates on Maple Avenue, Style Unleashed and Sweet Lorraines on Waseca Avenue, and Barrington Books in the Barrington Shopping Plaza.
