Barrington 'Financial Coaches' Earn Recognition

Monika Garofan and Michael O'Shea volunteered to coach budgeting, credit and debt.

Two Barrington “financial coaches” in the Capital Good Fund’s Financial Coaching Corps were cited by RI General Treasurer Gina Raimondo last week for their involvement in volunteering to work with Rhode Islanders who want some coaching in budgeting, credit and debt.

Monika Garofan and Michael O’Shea received citations from Raimondo, who said: “The success of the Financial Coaching Corps program is a direct result of the dedication of the coaches. These volunteers have gone beyond what is expected of them to help their clients work towards financial empowerment.”

Garofan and Shea, who work for Fidelity Investments, made a six-month commitment to teacher members of the Year Up and Teach For America programs how to take charge of their own finances through free one-on-one financial planning sessions.
