Off to See 'The Wizard of Oz' This Weekend

Barrington High School Stagemasters perform evenings shows on Thursday and Friday and a Saturday matinee.

Walk with The Stagemasters at Barrington High School to see 'The Wizard of Oz' starting tomorrow, Nov. 21, and continuing on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 and 23.

The theater students bring Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion to the John Gray Auditorium stage for three shows over the three days. It's a stage adaptation of the MGM Musical , said Stephanie Spaziano, Stagemasters director and theater arts teacher at the high school.

Shows are Thursday and Friday at 7 pm and Saturday at 2 pm.

"The show really has been a community effort on the part of BHS with faculty members and students (both theatre students and non-theatre students alike) contributing their time and talent" said Spaziano. "Most notably, Mr. John West opened up the Sunrise studio, giving us access to the morning show's green screen so that we could shoot special effects film sequences. 

"Several teachers volunteered their time after school to have cameos in the production," she said. "Others loaned their furniture to be included as part of sets, and Mr. Miller and the technology students in the woodshop volunteered to make frames for our scenery."

Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.
