A new dinner theater murder-mystery company debuts in the East Bay on Thursday.
The company is the theatrical division of the Rhode Island Modeling Agency in Barrington. It will do its first show, "Cable Access Catastrophe," on Thursday, June 7, and Monday, June 11.
Performances will take place at the Wharf Tavern Restaurant in Warren. A separate show will be held on June 27 at the Marriott Hotel in Providence.
The shows will be performed by actors from throughout the state, said Joel Hellmann of Barrington, an an agent for the modeling agency and the former director of the Barrington Community Theatre.
"This is the first of a series of murder mysteries that the Rhode Island Modeling Agency will be producing In June,” he said. “The actors, who are paid to perform, range in age from 14 to 60.”
Among the actors is Amy Harff, who has been in theatre since she was 9, said Hellmann.
“She has performed with Barrington Community Theatre, Trinity Rep, and Wheeler,” he said. “Her recent performances include Great Expectations, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Bickersons, Much Ado about Nothing, and short scenes in many one act plays In Barrington Community theatre.
Other Barrington actors who will perform in "Cable Access Catastrophe" include Tracy Tisler, Casey Turgeon, Mani Lyles, Elizabeth Felag, Abby Hurley, and Conor Ridlon. They are regulars of Barrington Community Theatre.
The play is directed by Sean Carufel of Barrington and a Rhode Island College theatre major.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be done though any of the actors or by calling Rhode Island Modeling Agency at 401-435-6655. Deadline for ticket sales for Thursday’s show is today.
