Life's a Song & Dance for Campers

Barrington Community Theater summer campers rehearsing for their final summer performances this weekend in the library auditorium.

It's that time again -- time for some local kids to "sing and dance, and have a good time."

Those words come from Reid Eighme, one of the directors of Barrington Community Theater, when referring to the troupe's latest performance, opening this weekend.

Summer campers with the theater company have been hard at work rehearsing for five one-act plays and a musical revue they will perform Friday evening, Aug. 5, and Saturday evening, Aug. 6, beginning at 7 pm, in the air-conditioned auditorium at the Barrington Public Library.

The plays include both serious scenes and comedy, including scenes from "The Worstest Play Ever Wrote," a short comedy by Jason Pizzarello.

The revue will feature songs from a number of different musicals, including "Grease," "Annie," "A Chorus Line," "Chicago," "The Phantom Of The Opera," and more.

Eighme said the troupe is finishing up their summer camp sessions, and about 70 kids altogether participated in camp over the last six weeks.

An after-school theater program will also be offered when school starts this fall.

"We do a lot of plays," said Eighme. "So everyone gets a chance to have a lead roll, and everybody feels equally involved."
