Be aware of "The Jungle Book" this weekend.
Students at Primrose Hill School will present three performances of Disney’s "The Jungle Book" tonight at 7 pm and Saturday at 1 and 7 pm at the Barrington Middle School. The shows open the 2013 Arts Alive! season.
More than 60 first- to third-graders make up the cast. Expect plenty of surprises in the Indian jungle with characters such as Mowgli, Baloo and Bagheera from the Rudyard Kipling book.
The performances are actually being adapted from the Disney movie, with permission from Musical Theatre International.
"This production is packed with many recognizable songs and is sure to entertain and inspire," said Kirsten Davis of Arts Alive!.
Arts Alive! co-founder Dena Davis is the director. She said the production team has been inspired by Indian culture, which will be reflected in the costuming and choreography.
"Arts Alive! is proud to open the season with this lovable, classic tale of family, loyalty and friendship," Davis said.
Tickets are $5 for kids.
