Barrington Musicians to Toot Horns at Newport Jazz Festival

Jacob Greenberg and Amelia Szosz will play in Newport on Saturda after earning a spot on the Rhode Island Music Educators Association (RIMEA) Senior All-State Jazz Ensemble.

Two Barrington students will play at the renowned Newport Jazz Festival this weekend – one for the second straight year. They will be led by a familiar face, Barbara Hughes, the director of music at the high school.

Jacob Greenberg and Amelia Szosz will perform as part of the Rhode Island Music Educators Association (RIMEA) Senior All-State Jazz Ensemble, which performs Saturday morning -- 10:45-11:30 -- on the Harbor stage.  They earned their spots in the ensemble after competing at the RI All-State Band competition, according to eastbayricom.

Greenberg is a 2013 Barrington High School graduate who played fifth trumpet last year at the festival; he will sit in the first chair this year. Szosz will be a junior at the high school this year. See the complete story by clicking here.
