'All That Jazz' Series to Present Live Music, History at Library

The free, three-week lecture and performance series starts Wednesday evening, Oct. 2.

Are you a jazz music fan? Are you interested in learning about the history of jazz in America?  

Then you will enjoy “All That Jazz!” -- a free three-week lecture and performance series that starts Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Barrington Public Library and continues the next two Wednesdays, Oct. 9, and Oct. 16.

Each performance starts at 7 pm.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of Barrington Library. It will feature lectures by musician and teacher Lloyd Kaplan, who will present an overview of the history of jazz from its earliest beginnings in America.  

To demonstrate and further clarify the various qualities of jazz, two fine jazz ensembles will be on stage to play live music.

The Aristocats, comprised of jazz musicians who have been performing jazz for many decades, will join with the Barrington High School Jazz Ensemble, an award-winning ensemble each year at the national competition in Boston, to present a live, jazz experience.
