Saturday is a National Day of Service as part of the Presidential Inauguration Committee's planning for President Obama's second inauguration on Monday, Jan. 21, which will honor The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday that bears his name.
And there are three locations in Barrington where volunteers can give some service, according to Anne Connor of Barrington, a local Obama Democrat and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention last fall.
"The Day of Service is not about politics, though," she said, "but about community."
