Environmental Sculptural Designs on Display this March at Barrington Public Library

Throughout the month of March, Barrington Public Library displays conceptual drawings that reflect an important stage in the process of creating large-scale sculpture installations by Suzanne Volmer of Lincoln.

Volmer’s sculptural work includes a conceptual drawing for “Clouds Captured” a multi-dimensional indoor installation which combined inflated fabric forms with mechanized movement, LED lighting and sound. Also shown is a conceptual drawing for “Aquatic” an outdoor installation realized in Brookline, MA made of three-dimensional materials; and a model of “Suspended Topography” that was made for an exhibition to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Queensboro Bridge. Volmer creates outdoor sculpture projects which incorporate the surrounding environment. She has taught at Rhode Island School of Design and writes art criticism.
