Students at State House; Play Some Hoops; 'Last Chance' Shopping

Here are some things to know about today in and around Barrington.


Here are some things to know about today, Dec. 19, in and around Barrington:

  • Partly cloudy with temperatures topping out near 42 degrees.
  • Two Barrington Middle School musical groups perform at the RI State House as part of the RI State Council on the Arts (RISCA) holiday concert series: the 8th Grade Chorus sings at 9:30 am; the Jazz Band plays at 10:30 am.
  • Red Brick School, 50 Middle Highway, hosts a “Last Chance Shopping Night”  at 6 pm. Among the vendors on hand: Chickabrooms, Dancing Threads RI, Scholastic Books, Thirty One Gifts, Mary Kay, Ava Anderson, Stella & Dot, Honeyberries, Falk Jewelry, It Works, Bake Sale, Linda Lou & Barbra, too.
  • The final East Bay Contra dance of 2013 features the band, South Coast. It starts at 7:30 pm at the Warren Community Center, 790 Main St. Come with a friend or by yourself; only $5.
  • The open-gym men’s basketball drop-in program operated by the Barrington Recreation Department continues at the Barrington Middle School from 7 to 9 pm. Men 18 and older can play every Thursday.
  • The girls’ basketball team at Barrington High School travels to La Salle Academy for a 7:30 pm game in the McLaughlin Center.
