Hear 'Celebration of Silver' Lecture, Child-Rearing Expert

 Here are some things to know about today in and around Barrington:

  • Clouds mix with sunshine as temperatures approach 60 degrees.
  • The Barrington Preservation Society hosts a “Celebration of Silver” lecture by Elizabeth Williams, Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Rhode Island School of Design, in the Barrington library auditorium. The 7 pm lecture will focus on the silver works and history of those pieces made by Providence’s Gorham Manufacturing Co., which are currently on display at RISD Museum’s current.   • Dr. Ron Taffel, considered one of the country’s child-rearing experts, comes to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington at 7 pm. His presentation is titled “Childhood Unbound! Raising Strong and Compassionate Kids - Confident Parenting in a Tough 21st Century World.” The event is described as a special evening of insight, technique, and inspiration sure to bring out the best in our kids and ourselves.
