'Long Summer Family Fun Day' at Veterans Park, Bayside Y

Partly cloudy and warm today with meetings of Marijuana Anonymous and the Barrington Cemetery and Harbor Commissions.

Here are five things you should know about today, Aug. 14, in and around Barrington: 

  1. Partly cloudy with a high temperature near 78 degrees.
  2. The Barrington Land Conservation Trust and the Bayside YMCA team up for a special 'Long Summer Family Fun Day' starting at 4:30 pm in Veterans Memorial Park.
  3. The Friends of the Barrington Public Library are offering some very special books for purchase directly from the library's book sorting room. Among them: THE NEW GROVE DICTIONARY OF MUSIC AND MUSICIANS edited by Stanley Sadie, in 20 volumes, and a collector’s edition of JANE EYRE by Charlotte Bronte.   4. Marijuana Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who share recovery from marijuana addiction, meets at 7 pm in the education building of Barrington Congregational Church, 461 County Road.
  5. Two Barrington boards, the Cemetery Commission and the Harbor Commission, meet today, respectively, at 3:30 pm in the Library Meeting Room and at 7:30 pm in the harbormaster's office in the Public Safety Complex on Federal Road.
