Here are a few things to know about today in and around Barrington:

  • Cloudy with periods of rain and a high temperature of around 49 degrees. 
  • weekly “brown bag lunch” series for East Bay business women with a new speaker each week continues at noon at the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, 16 Cutler St., Warren. The women’s winter series is hosted by W.E.B.O.N.D. (Women's Empowerment and Business Owners Networking Development) and sponsored by RE/MAX River’s Edge. Admission is $5 a week. Joanna Meriweather talks today on "Peace and Power as a Woman Entrepreneur – Two Key Practices".
  • The Barrington Conservation Commission meets at 7:30 pm in the School Committee Meeting Room in Town Hall.
  • The girls’ basketball team at Barrington High School hosts the squad from Westerly High School at 6 pm.
  • The Friends of the Barrington Public Library offers some very special books for purchase directly from the library's book sorting room. Leave your name and telephone number with the Reference Department staff, either in person or by telephoning 401-247-1920 ext 2. 
  • Call the Barrington library ahead of time if you are attending an event or meeting there. Work on replacing the elevator has put it out of service, which makes the second floor accessible only by the stairwell. The number is 401-247-1920.
