Basketball Tourney Starts; 'School's Out' Program Continues

Here are a few things to know about today in and around Barrington:

  • Mostly sunny with a high temperature near 38 degrees.
  • The annual Barrington Boosters holiday basketball tournament starts at the high school gymnasium at 1 pm. The fundraising tourney continues tomorrow, Dec. 28, at noon. Ten girls’ and boys’ teams tangle in the even. Click here for the complete schedule
  • The Barrington Recreation Department’s “School’s Out” program for kids 6-12 continues at the middle school with morning – 9 am to noon -- and afternoon – 12:30 to 3:30 pm -- sessions. Click here for more information.
  • The Barrington/Mt.Hope/Portsmouth co-op girls’ hockey team skates against the Burrillville/Ponaganset co-op squad at Dennis Lynch Arena in Pawtucket at 8 pm. 
  • Disney on Ice continues its run of shows at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence. Shows start at 11 am, 3 pm & 7 pm, and continue on Saturday at 11 am, 3 pm & 7 pm; Sunday at 12 pm & 4 pm, and Monday, December 30, 12 pm & 4 pm.
  • Call the Barrington library ahead of time if you are attending an event or meeting there. Work on replacing the elevator will put it out of service for up to three weeks starting any day now, which will make the second floor inaccessible except by the stairwell. The number is 401-247-1920.
