Westside Walkabout at Veterans Memorial Park
Western Veterans Memorial Park Walkabout has been postponed one week, to February 16th at 10am, due to a major winter coastal storm predicted for Friday with a foot or more of new snow. Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Park and meet at Legion Way ice skating rink for a walk through the western side of the park to examine trails and wetlands in preparation for the next phase of park projects to improve trail conditions, close trails where needed and complete the new trail system. We will be walking off trail or in wet/snowy conditions as part of our review. Check out the elm tree. We will also drive to Brick Pond Drive and hike from that location for the second part of the walkabout.
For All Walks/Projects: Dress for the day's weather. Long pants, gloves and sturdy shoes are recommended. Insect repellant is advisable year-round for tick protection. Steady rain will cancel.

More About American Legion Post 8
This branch of the United States' largest veterans organization is open to all servicemen and women who have put themselves on the line for their country. And while this facility is mainly for veterans' use (80 members), Post 8 also opens its doors to those who want to rent the facility for just about any event for up to 100 people including birthday parties, bereavement functions, college graduation parties and wedding receptions. No cooking is allowed on the premises, so meals must be catered or potluck style. Bartenders can be hired through Post 8 to staff a cash bar.
