Mei Mei Hu is an educator and the creator of the Play and Learn Chinese series, which includes a language CD, the popular Dance & Learn with Mei Mei and the recent simplified character instruction books Let's Write Chinese with Mei Mei.
Mei Mei came to the United States in 1983, after having taught English for several years in China at the well known University of Science and Technology.
Since 2000 and the adoption of her daughter from China, Mei Mei's energies have been focused on teaching Chinese language and culture to the large number of local children adopted from China, and, through her education videos, to others all over the country and even internationally. The Play and Learn series has been well-received by a worldwide audience of children and parents alike. Mei Mei's enthusiasm for conveying the joy and pride she takes in her native culture is her trademark.
Mei Mei Hu now resides in Rhode Island with her husband and daughter. She continues working on her production of educational videos and teaching Chinese.

More About Barrington Middle School
The school has been recognized for years as among the top middle schools in the country for its performance on standardized tests, instruction, special education-inclusion model, hands-on science, scheduling, and "looping," according to Principal Richard K. Wheeler Jr. Looping involves having the same teachers teach the same students for two years to provide a continuity in instruction that is seen as highly beneficial to their development. The school, in fact, is noted for being a classic "team-teaching school" where students learn in nine clusters -- three per grade. Students are not grouped by ability, however, except for math. Instead, teachers and administrators rank students according to more than a dozen criteria so each cluster is as identical in student make-up as possible. For certain courses, like algebra, exceptional students are not held to certain grades. They are bussed to the high school for that learning opportunity.
