Parents of students, administrators and faculty, and other caring adults will come together for an informative evening forum to learn more about opening the lines of communication with today’s youth and exploring the role all adults have in helping keep teenagers safe.
Special guest speaker Stephen Wallace, former National Chairman and CEO of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), will present the popular Parent Power program. This important presentation provides parents with a “behind-the-scenes” look at today’s adolescence experience.
Supported by fresh, original research and three decades of work with youth and families, Wallace aims to empower parents to play an even more influential role in the choices that their children make, emphasizing key parent-child communication and how to make it work!
Wallace has broad experience as a school psychologist and adolescent counselor and speaks frequently to young people, adults, and families about youth development and decision-making. He is the author of Reality Gap: Alcohol, Drugs, and Sex—What Parents Don’t Know and Teens Aren’t Telling.
WHO: Parents, teachers, coaches, law enforcement personnel, business leaders, and other interested and caring adults from the entire Barrington community are invited to this event.

More About Barrington High School
The high school is recognized as one of the best in Rhode Island, and it has a tradition of academic excellence and a mission to challenge each student to reach his or her highest level of achievement. A diverse array of extracurricular activities and sports complement learning. In short, according to Principal Joseph D. Hurley, the school is building a professional learning community with "an extremely dedicated staff that continues to push forward and has a willingness to change," and "a student body that has a willingness to learn." Parents also are heavily involved in the school, and everyone wants to make things even better, Hurley says. The high school has two assistant principals, Michael Messore and Nicole Varone, and an athletics director, George Finn.
