Holiday Fleece Blanket Sale Saturday to Benefit Local Scouts

Cub Scouts from Pack 2 West Barrington will be selling a wide array of fleece blankets, picnic blankets and fleece scarves this Saturday at Center Hardware on County Road. One hundred percent of the sales will be donated to help pay for scouting supplies and activities for the cub scouts, ages 6 to 11, thanks to the generosity of a New England Fleece Co. The fleece range from tie-die designs for girls, to picnic blankets for tailgaters to Sherpa throws. Prices range from $5 to $30 and donations of any size are always accepted. The Pack 2 West Barrington sale will take place on Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Center Hardware, 156 County Road.

Conveniently located at Barrington Shopping Center, this ACE store has everything you could find at one of its big-box competitors. Aisles might be narrow but it's laid out neatly and efficiently, giving the place an almost boutique-y feel despite all of the hammers, drill bits and lawn and garden products. It's easy to find what you came in for, too, as the store signage points you toward your intended purchase, as do the helpful, friendly clerks, who'll also help with screen, glass and lamp repair. And it has something else the big guys don't: a gift shop.
