BEST Show Night!

Come out and see the BEST shows tonight starting at 7:00 in the Public Library Auditorium.  The kids are putting up a total of 6 shows, 5 of which have been student directed! So come out for some laughs and support these amazing young actors and directors.

The Barrington Enrichment Summer Theater, or the B.E.S.T camp, is a Town of Barrington theater program which is held at the Barrington High School from 8:00-3:00 Monday-Friday.  Here young actors are fully immersed in both show rehearsals and theater workshops ranging from Movement and Dance, to Monologues and Improv, to Juggling and Flag Spinning.  Second session will also include our infamous stage combat workshop that culminates in a chocolaty and “bloody” outdoor mess! B.E.S.T. is a program driven to help our young actors grow through plenty of stage time and acting workshops based off college level theater courses. Our staff carefully tailors these classes to work with the actors’ abilities to allow each actor to grow at their own pace in a supportive and accepting environment. We keep the environment playful with theatre games and (a camp favorite) “Wacky Wednesdays.” Our actors are in an average of 3 shows and take 10 workshops each session! We feel it is important that each actor has the opportunity to have both leading and supporting roles, as both will be important in an actors life. Our second 3-week session begins Monday July 16th and runs through August 4th.  There are still open spaces, so don’t waste the rest of your summer away, sign up today!  Session 2 will include 5 more plays, many more workshops, and a Musical Review!  Can’t do the whole 3-week session?  Sign up for the one-week option to join the workshops and the fun! Register at the Town Manager's Office.

The library is recognized as one of the finest in Rhode Island with a mission to provide free, diverse and easily accessible materials, services and programs that educate, inform, enrich and entertain Barrington residents, according to Director Debbie Barchi. It is a member of the Ocean State Lending consortium of libraries, which share an online catalog. It offers databases that can be accessed online at the library or from a home or business. The library strives to serve all age groups and their special needs. One of its most popular adult programs is a film series in an auditorium that boasts state-of-the-art visual equipment, a wide screen and padded stadium seating. Meeting space is available for a small fee. The library offers copy machines and homedelivery of materials. Hundreds of story hours for children from babies to pre-teens draw thousands of participants each year. The picturesque two-story library occupies most of the square footage of the retrofitted and refurbished former high school next to the Town Hall.
